How is the international media looking at the war and ceasefire between India and Pakistan?

war and ceasefire between India and Pakistan

NEWSMRL: The international media has given its opinion on the sudden ceasefire declaration in the midst of a war like situation between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April. The foreign media is discussing the ceasefire between the two countries and its violations.

Articles about India and Pakistan have been published in well known newspapers and news outlets across the world. India and Pakistan declared a ceasefire on Saturday. But just a few hours after the ceasefire, both the countries accused each other of violating the ceasefire.

American Media:

New York Times: “President Trump announced the ceasefire on social media and said it was brokered by the United States. Officials in India and Pakistan confirmed the ceasefire, but only Pakistan acknowledged the American role.”

Washington Post: “The ceasefire is an effort to stop the fighting between the two countries that began on Wednesday when India launched air strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.”

UK Media:

Financial Times: “Recent clashes between India and Pakistan in 2016 and 2019 were limited to border areas, including Kashmir. But this time a more intense conflict was seen between the two countries. Both countries targeted each other’s air bases and drones were fired.”

Telegraph: “India and Pakistan came close to war. The last time such attacks took place between the two neighbors was in 1971. This war ended with the formation of independent Bangladesh.”

Arab Media:

ArabNews.com: “India and Pakistan have accused each other of violating the ceasefire, just hours after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between the two countries.”

SaudiGazette.com: “Saudi Arabia has stepped up diplomatic efforts to defuse military confrontation between India and Pakistan. Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held separate phone calls on Saturday with Indian Foreign Minister Dr Jaishankar and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.”

Bangladesh Media:

The Daily Star: “This was the most fierce fighting between the two South Asian countries in the last three decades. There was a danger of it breaking out into a full-scale war. The fighting had raised the risk of a nuclear attack because the Pakistani army had said that there would be a meeting of their top body with nuclear weapons.”
