Power outage in Spain and Portugal

Spain's power company Red Electrica said that power has gone out in the whole country

SPAIN: REN has reported that this power crisis has arisen due to extreme changes in temperature in Spain. However, there has been no response from the Spanish government on this yet.. Spain’s power company Red Electrica said that power has gone out in the whole country. Now they are trying to restore power and understand the reasons for the blackout. Along with this, the Madrid Open Tennis Tournament to be held in Spain has also been stopped due to power cuts. This power cut has affected airline, metro and train services. Portugal’s airline TAP Air has appealed to passengers not to go to the airport until further notice. After this power crisis in Spain, the country’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has held an ‘extraordinary’ meeting related to national security.

Meanwhile, Portugal’s Prime Minister Luis Montenegro has said that there is no sign of any kind of cyber attack behind the power outage in Portugal and Spain. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s energy minister has said that he is ready to help fix the power. Power company Red Electrica wrote on social media platform X, “All resources are being used to fix the problem quickly.” RTE is a French company and has said that it is helping to fix the power supply in Spain.

After the power outage, the mayor of Madrid in Spain appealed to people to travel as little as possible (drive) and said that people should stay where they are. Due to this crisis, internet services have also been affected and there were reports of mobile services being shut down. In fact, along with power cuts in Spain and Portugal, trains were evacuated by taking passengers out of the train in some areas.

Earlier, Portugal’s power company Red Electrica Nacional (REN) has said that it may take up to a week to fully restore power. The company said that there was no impact on France at the moment. Spain’s electricity department said that it could take six to ten hours to restore power supply.
