After being named Chief Minister on Monday, Yadav met Governor Mangubhai Patel and staked claim to form the next government. After which, on Wednesday, Mohan Yadav took the oath of office and secrecy as the new Chief Minister of the state. Governor Mangubhai Patel administered the oath at Lal Parade Ground. Mohan Yadav is considered close to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and was not being seen as a contender for the top post. He belongs to the Other Backward Class (OBC) community, which accounts for more than 48 percent of the state’s population. Veteran party leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan could not make the record of holding the post of Chief Minister for the fifth time. On Monday, BJP elected Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister of the state and 58-year-old Mohan Yadav, who was the Higher Education Minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, was unanimously elected the leader of the BJP legislature party. Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Deora will hold the post of Deputy Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh.
Mohan Yadav Yadav was elected MLA from Ujjain South seat for the first time in 2013. He retained the assembly seat in 2018 and again in 2023. In last month’s assembly elections, the BJP won 163 of the 230 assembly seats in the state, pushing Congress to second place with 66 seats. On Wednesday, the new Chief Minister of the state Mohan Yadav took the oath of office and secrecy. Apart from Mohan Yadav, Governor Mangubhai Patel administered the oath to Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Deora at Lal Parade Ground. Mohan, Jagdish and Rajendra took oath in the presence of PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states.
