WORLD : After the voting in the UN on October 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked to many leaders of Arab and Gulf countries. TS Tirumurti, who was India’s permanent representative to the United Nations, had written in the English newspaper The Hindu on October 31 regarding India’s stand on the Israel-Hamas war that India has always wanted a two-pronged solution to the Israel-Palestine crisis. Seen in the theory of nation. It is natural for India to be worried about the terrorist attack inside Israel. On October 26, when India abstained from voting on the ceasefire resolution in Gaza in the UN General Assembly, the example of France was given. France voted in support of the ceasefire, while Western countries are openly in support of Israel. Biden’s statement is similar to the statements of the US administration in which Israel was asked to save human lives during the war. However, Biden also says that Israel has every right to attack Hamas. Biden is facing pressure in the country regarding Israel’s military campaign. This pressure is also being heard from within Biden’s Democratic Party. Till now, America has been supporting the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza. But now US President Joe Biden has said that Israel is losing global support due to the ongoing indiscriminate bombing in Gaza. Voting took place in the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, 12 December, regarding the ceasefire in Gaza. In this voting, 153 member countries voted in support of the ceasefire and 10 countries voted against it. 23 countries remained absent from voting. The important thing is that India has also voted in support of the ceasefire. When voting for ceasefire was held for the first time in the United Nations, India was absent from the voting.
According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza, 18,400 people have lost their lives so far in Israeli attacks. On October 7, 1200 people were killed in Hamas’ attack on Israel. Before the voting in the United Nations General Assembly, Biden said that Israel is losing international support due to the bombing of Gaza. Earlier in November, India had voted in support of the resolution in the United Nations General Assembly in which the occupied Palestinians Israeli settlements in the area were condemned. The resolution titled ‘Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem and the Syrian Golan’ was presented in the UN General Assembly. 145 votes were cast in support of this resolution, seven were against and 18 countries remained out of voting. On October 26, an emergency session was called in the UN regarding Israel’s ongoing attack on Gaza and India did not vote on the ceasefire resolution. This stand of India was considered in favor of Israel. India had then said that the resolution did not contain any reference to the Hamas attack on Israeli territory on October 7 and India’s policy has been of zero tolerance towards terrorism. Biden said in an event related to raising funding for 2024, “Israel’s security may depend on America, but right now it is more dependent on the European Union and most of the countries of the world including Europe than on America.” But with the bombing that is being carried out, Israel will continue to lose support.
