BUSINESS : According to the Economic Times newspaper, Tata Group company Tata Consumer Products Limited may soon acquire Bisleri International. This information has been given in the report quoting Ramesh Chauhan, Chairman of Packaged Water Maker Bisleri. This deal is expected to be finalized for Rs 7000 crore.
According to market experts, after the deal is finalized, Tata Group company can emerge as the biggest player in the water market. Let us tell you that the consumer business of Tata Group comes under Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL). It also sells packaged mineral water under the Himalayan brand and in the hydration segment with brands such as Tata Copper Plus Water and Tata Gluco. However, Tata Consumer Products and Bisleri have not yet given official information.
According to a report by market research and advisory TechSci Research, bottled water is gaining popularity among consumers. Coca-Cola’s Kinley, PepsiCo’s Aquafina, Parle Agro’s Baileys and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)’s Rail Neer have presence. However, all these market leaders, including Coca-Cola India, are competing with their brands in the bottled water market. The Indian bottled water market was valued at over US$2.43 billion (approximately Rs 19,315 crore) in FY 2021.
